2000: '99 v '98

In one of the most lopsided PBI games, the Class of 99’ dominated offensively and defensively, leaving little drama going into the halftime speech and orange snack.  Running a balanced attack that saw six different players score touchdowns, the class of 99’ scored 34 points in the first half.  The class of 99’ took the opening kickoff, getting on the scoreboard as Noah Zimmerman hit Ariel Oxman with a  20 yard touchdown pass in the right corner of the end zone.  On 98’/00’ first play, Oxman intercepted a Mark Krakauer pass, taking it 25 yards for a touchdown.  After Krakauer was intercepted by Zimmerman on the next drive, The Class of 99’ used one play to score their third touchdown of the game.  Zimmerman lofted a 35 yard touchdown pass to a leaping Dan Fulop who outjumped a much shorter Shai Feirst.  Following two more Krakauer interceptions by Zimmerman and Oxman, the Class of 99’ ran two long drives, culminating in short touchdown runs by Asaf Nagler and Ben S.S.  Right before halftime, Krakauer finally got his team on the scoreboard by hitting Avi Marcus with a  50 yard touchdown pass.

In the second half Zimmerman, who had 50 rushing yards, scored on 5 yard touchdown run.  The 98’/00’ team answered, putting together their first nice drive by using speedsters Shai Fierst and Michael Gerton to drive down the field.  Krakauer finished the drive by hiting Danny Ymar with a ten yard scoring toss.  Ymar, who had served as the keynote speaker in previous PBI Classics, was making his first appearance as a player.  Mike Reiter caught a 20 yard touchdown pass over the middle to close out the scoring.  As the Class of 99’ was running out the clock, Zimmerman pitched the ball to Dan Fulop on an option play.  Fulop was spun around by Fierst, breaking his right ankle.  99’ ran out the final minutes of the game.
